Internship Programs

The BioMechanics offer a two day, full immersion internship program where attendees learn one on one how to assess individual clients for musculoskeletal issues, interpret the results, and design and implement a corrective exercise program. This program is conducted on-site at The BioMechanics facility in San Diego in the spring and fall each year.

Alternatively, The BioMechanics will travel to you (for groups of 5 or more) for specialized internship programs or workshops.

The internship program provides fitness professionals with a unique opportunity to learn about the following topics in a relaxed and highly personalized environment:

Structural Assessment
  • The foot and ankle
  • The knee
  • The lumbo-pelvic-hip girdle
  • The thoracic spine and shoulder girdle
  • The neck and head

    Note: If you have already attended an introductory course on structural assessment taught by Justin, then you will learn more advanced techniques in structural assessment. This may include information relating to:

    a) Understanding the sacro-iliac joint
    b) Understanding one sided deviations of the pelvis
    c) Understanding leg-length discrepancies
    d) Understanding functional deviations of the spine.


    Structural Deviations and Implications for Movement

  • Activities of daily living
  • Overuse injuries
  • Common exercises that exacerbate deviations

    Note: If you have already attended an introductory course taught by Justin then you will learn more advanced information about how the body moves. This may include explanations of:

    a) Spine flexion and extension
    b) Lateral movement of the spine
    c) Rotation of the spine
    d) Movement of the pelvis
    e) Kinetic chain assessments to understand deviations
    f) Gait or movement analysis.
